Skidmore Studio

3.8.10 - I'm not a guy who believes in diets, especially those named after people or cities. I never owned a mood ring. Thought pet rocks were really dumb, and that people who added "shizzle" to the end of words sounded desperate to fit in. I say this because, the Skidmore DNA is written in much the same way.

We tend to avoid fads and rely on creativity. We never did jump on the SEO bandwagon for web sites, have not become self-appointed experts in social media and we avoid words like "synergistic" around here. Skidmore is a creative studio. We've always placed a high value on creativity - always will.

That's why today's piece in Crain's Detroit Business is such big news for us. It marks a new product offering for us - motion graphics - and that is always news when we add to our services.

Motion Graphics has been around for more than a decade. Many have flung themselves head-first into the technology and made their mark. We watched, and learned.

We waited because the key for us was that we wanted to make the technology work for us, not the other way around. We wanted our artists to embrace and make motion graphics fit with our other core competencies. We wanted the creative process to rule. We're a bit of perfectionists that way.

I'm proud to say we accomplished that goal. I say "we", because that's what we say...but in truth there is one artist who has led the charge. Andre Foster has gone above and beyond. He's taken night classes, learned the software. Practiced, and then practiced some more to make it happen.

That effort paid off with multiple awards in the past several months. We are able to show our clients a new method to communicate their message in a visually exciting way. So today we can offer our clients world-class design, the gold standard in illustration, truly innovative web site design, amazing storyboard art and animation and now motion graphics. Most importantly, our clients have the ability to find this talent-base under one roof. The Skidmore Studio roof.
