Peter Fezzey joins Skidmore Studio’s leadership team

Skidmore Studio welcomes Peter Fezzey to the team to direct all account and new business efforts. Fezzey joins the studio with 15 years of experience in strategic partnerships and business development. At Skidmore, he is responsible for building new business relationships, developing client growth strategies, promoting the studio’s services, and overseeing internal project teams to ensure overall client satisfaction.

Peter Fezzey began his position on April 22. He comes to Skidmore from The Mars Agency, where he served as VP of Strategy & Business Development. His many years in the industry brings a breadth of multimedia and agency experience as well as a proven track record of fostering successful client relationships. Fezzey is the first person to be hired to the Skidmore leadership team in 10 years.

Fezzey says, “I’m excited to expose the great work and great people of the studio to an expanding list of partners. The team already has a proven track record of success and I consider myself fortunate to be in a position to help them reach new heights. Their genuine care for their work and, more importantly, for their clients allows Skidmore to deliver consistently exceptional results.”

Skidmore Studio, recently recognized as one of Michigan’s 50 Companies to Watch, is positioned for strong and smart growth in 2019. President and owner Drew Patrick speaks often of how the team is dedicated to the legacy of Leo Skidmore, who founded the company in 1959 with the intention of creating the best place to work for Detroit’s creative community.

The studio created Fezzey’s role as more than a business development position. With an expansive portfolio of clients such as Lipari Foods and Universal Orlando Resort, Skidmore implemented The EOS Model (Entrepreneurial Operating System) last year. The model has six focal points: vision, people, data, issues, process, and traction. Upon completing the vision, Skidmore is now focused on growth, honing ideal client profiles, and hiring the right team members to execute strategy.

Patrick took the reins of Skidmore Studio in late 2018 after the previous owner, Tim Smith, passed away suddenly earlier that year. In fact, it was Fezzey’s own father’s unexpected death a year prior that led him to connect personally with Patrick to offer empathy and condolences. Fezzey’s father, Mike Fezzey, was a beloved member of Detroit Metro’s business community and president of Huntington Bank for nearly five years.

In addition to hiring Fezzey, Patrick and his leadership team have been focused on strengthening team culture, attracting niche clients in the food and entertainment industries, and expanding its team to best serve its clients.

Patrick adds, “We’re thrilled to have Peter joining the Skidmore team. His extensive branding and business development expertise will allow us to help more good companies grow. Peter is an ideal addition to our people-centric studio. He is a driven, caring, and compassionate leader.”
